WORKING RANCH FOR STRUGGLING YOUNG ADULT MEN FOR HELP, CALL US: 435-691-1118

We are Blessed to Work with People and Horses Everyday.

"Time Spent with Horses is Never Wasted."

Our Facility

Our facility is located on 20+ acres just off Highway 9 in Hurricane, UT. We are 15 miles from St. George, 3 miles from Sand Hollow State Park, and 30 miles from spectacular Zion National Park. From the ranch we have a picturesque view of Pine Valley Mountain and can often see brightly colored hot air balloons in the distance. In this serene setting we have a 20 stall barn with a complete breeding lab, a competition size roping arena, a calf roping arena, and covered riding arena, round pens, turnouts and pastures, living quarters for the ranch hands, and a house for the owners.

The ranch hands live in modern living quarters that include a kitchen/living room, laundry, bathroom and three bedrooms. The bedrooms are large and spacious with two beds in each room.

There are approximately 80 horses on the ranch at all times including newborn foals, yearlings, horses being trained, competition horses, mares, and stallions. Caring for this many horses is a lot of hard work and responsibility. It is a team effort. Everyone depends on each other to do their part.

Our History

We, Mike and Raquel, have been helping teens and young adults gain the confidence to achieve their own goals and chase their own dreams since 1989.

Mike was a football and wrestling coach at the High School level. One day he came home from practice with a heart-wrenching story. The mother of two of the football players on his team had been killed in an accident. Raquel couldn’t get the two boys off her mind and after a lot of praying she knew that they needed to become a part of their young family. There were a lot of ups and downs but we grew to love those two boys as our own. With the help of our ever present horses the boys gained confidence, work ethic, and responsibility.

From there, our journey lead to being therapeutic foster parents to several teenage boys, becoming guardians of another young man whose mother overdosed on drugs, and helping many young men on Mike’s football and wrestling teams who were struggling either emotionally, physically, or financially. A lot of the growth we saw came from the horses and their interactions with them. Many times we would hire young men who needed a little extra help in life to work on the ranch. In turn they gained life and job skills, and built relationships, confidence, and trust.

In 2005 we began building equine-assisted therapy programs in residential treatment centers. Then in 2015 we opened up a ranch internship program for struggling young men. Now it has evolved into The Ranch House -- a more formal aftercare or failure-to-launch program for young men in transition who require structure and supervision.

We are confident that by combining our vast experience and the passion we have for helping young people we have created an environment where the young man who come here will leave with more confidence and ability to become independent.
